Introduce a vibrant splash of nature to your decor with our Red Maranta Prayer Plant living wall art, elegantly mounted on natural cork bark. The Red Maranta, also known as the Red Prayer Plant, features striking red veins and beautifully patterned leaves that exhibit a fascinating movement. At night, the leaves fold upward in a prayer-like position, a phenomenon known as "nyctinasty." This movement is an adaptation to capture rain in its native rainforest habitat, where it often rains at night.
Key Features:
- Natural Cork Bark: Sustainably sourced and rot-proof, our cork bark provides a beautiful, eco-friendly base for your living art. It is water-safe and can be completely submerged, ensuring durability and an ideal environment for your plants.
- Red Maranta Prayer Plant: Renowned for its vibrant red veins and unique leaf movements, the Red Maranta adds a touch of dynamic beauty to your decor. The plant’s leaves fold upward at night to "pray," mimicking its natural behavior to catch rain in the rainforest.
- Approximate Size: The living wall art pictured is approximately 20"x10". You will receive a piece of similar size, but please note that each piece is unique, and actual size may vary due to natural variations in the cork bark and plant growth.
Please Note: The living wall art you receive will feature the same plant species and a similar size to the one pictured, but each piece of cork bark and plant has its own unique shape and form. We carefully craft each piece to bring out its best features, making every creation truly one of a kind. If you require a specific size, please email us, and we’ll be happy to send images of what we currently have in stock, or we can create a custom piece (please note that pricing varies with custom pieces).
Care Instructions:
- Light: Place your Red Maranta in bright, indirect light. It thrives in well-lit areas but should be shielded from direct sunlight to prevent leaf burn.
- Watering: When the moss feels dry, remove the mount from the wall and rinse it under running water for a few minutes (a kitchen sink or shower works well) until fully saturated. Alternatively, soak the mount facedown in a tub of water for about 15 minutes. Please note that spraying or misting your living wall art will not hurt the plant but is not sufficient to penetrate the moss. Allow the mount to dry before rehanging.
- Humidity: This tropical plant loves humidity. Cork bark helps retain moisture, but in drier environments, consider using a humidity tray or placing the plant in a more humid area.
- Long-Term Care: The Red Maranta can stay mounted on cork bark for 1-3 years, depending on its growth and conditions. When it’s time to refresh the substrate, you can either pot the plant in soil like a traditional houseplant or contact us for remounting services.
- Placement: Keep away from drafts and vents to ensure the plant doesn’t dry out.
Add a touch of dynamic beauty and natural wonder to your space with this Red Maranta Prayer Plant living wall art—an effortless way to enjoy the vibrancy and intriguing behavior of the rainforest at home.
