Event Plant Specialist

Help represent Plants & What Knot at flower shows, plant festivals, art markets, and pop-up events throughout the DMV area and beyond.

As a Plant Specialist, you’ll help customers discover unique botanical art while providing guidance on plant care, styling, and product selection. This role is ideal for outgoing plant lovers who enjoy connecting with people and creating a warm, welcoming customer experience.

Our Plant Specialists play an important role in bringing the Plants & What Knot brand to life through plant knowledge, customer interaction, and thoughtful presentation.

  • Greeting and assisting customers
  • Educating customers on general plant care and product maintenance
  • Sharing enthusiasm and knowledge about tropical houseplants and botanical art
  • Assisting with booth setup and breakdown
  • Processing transactions through Shopify POS
  • Restocking and maintaining displays throughout events
  • Helping create an inviting and organized booth environment
  • Supporting inventory management during events
  • Strong passion for houseplants and plant care is a must
  • Comfortable discussing common tropical houseplants and basic plant care
  • Friendly, outgoing, and dependable
  • Comfortable speaking with customers in fast-paced environments
  • Able to work independently and stay proactive during events
  • Comfortable with long days, lifting, and outdoor events
  • Weekend availability required
  • Prior retail, market, or customer service experience is a plus
  • Must have reliable transportation and be comfortable traveling to events across the DMV area

Studio Assistant

Assist with the care, maintenance, and day-to-day upkeep of our botanical art studio and living plant collection.

This role is ideal for someone with a genuine passion for houseplants who enjoys hands-on work in a calm, creative studio environment. Studio assistants help maintain plant health and presentation while supporting the overall cleanliness, organization, and flow of the studio.

  • Watering and caring for a wide variety of tropical houseplants
  • Monitoring plant health and identifying common plant issues
  • Cleaning, pruning, and maintaining plant presentation
  • Maintaining a clean and organized studio environment
  • Vacuuming, wiping down surfaces, organizing supplies, and assisting with general studio upkeep
  • Organizing inventory, supplies, and studio materials
  • Assisting with light shipping and event preparation tasks as needed
  • Supporting general studio upkeep and operations
  • Reliable, proactive, and detail-oriented
  • Clean, organized, and comfortable maintaining an aesthetically welcoming studio environment
  • Comfortable with physical, hands-on work
  • Physically able to lift and carry up to 40 lbs
  • Able to work independently and stay organized
  • Comfortable caring for and working around tropical houseplants
  • Interest in plants, art, or creative environments is a plus
  • Prior experience with houseplants or plant care is appreciated but not required
  • Flexible weekday scheduling
  • Studio scheduling typically ranges from 4–12 hours per week depending on workload and seasonal demand
  • All studio shifts take place during weekday business hours (Monday–Friday)
  • Additional hours may occasionally be available during the holiday season and other busy periods
  • Based in Chantilly, Virginia
